Tracking Wildlife and Unearthing Legends at Shirvan National Park

Last weekend, I was on an exhilarating Family Expedition to the wild and rugged Shirvan National Park organized by Forest School Azerbaijan.

The adventure began with thrilling birdwatching sessions, where we tracked exotic species through the park’s untouched terrain, followed by a deep dive into studying animal tracks.

We explored the place where the fascinating ruins of Bandovan, an ancient city lost to time along the Caspian coast were found.

The excitement continued as we hiked to the bubbling, alien-like mud volcanoes in the mountains.

Along the way, I captured stunning photos of goitered gazelles sprinting across the plains, pink flamingos on the lake, a golden eagle soaring high, a curious young owl, a lesser kestrel, a delicate tree frog, and many other creatures that call this park home.
